Neža Jamnikar is a Movement Artist from Slovenia (Europe), currently based in New Zealand.
Her movement practice is based on the use of improvisation and contact improvisation as a framework for studying human evolution and anatomy.
Using methods and tools from different somatic practices to explore the structures and functional motion of biological systems in order to efficiently move through the space, challenge dance habits and find new movement pathways.
Interdisciplinary creative process is in the focus of her choreographic practice, and she is interested in an instant composition as a performance format.
Being drawn to ideas/themes of psychological and political nature, re-imagining body-spaces, and with an interest in re-arrangement of audience-performer relationship, she creates works with which she wishes to disrupt and challenge the viewer’s psycho-physical perception.
